Conspiracy Law Pennsylvania
A conspiracy is defined as an agreement between two or more people to break the law at some point in the future. There is no limit to the number of people who can be involved in the conspiracy. Most countries have no requirement also for a plan to be in effect for the crime to be classified as a conspiracy.
A person can be charged with conspiracy as soon as he or she reaches and actual agreement to commit an illegal act. A person cannot, however, be convicted if all the co-conspirators of the crime are acquitted. However, not all members of the conspiracy need to be tried.
Conspiracy charges are occasionally coupled with drug crime charges. Prosecutors may file this charge against a defendant because it can be easy to prove. The defendant may not have strong evidence linking them to a crime like drug trafficking, however they may have a clear connection with another defendant who does. In this case, all the prosecution needs to do is prove an agreement between the two parties for the original defendant to be found guilty of conspiracy. A drug conviction, regardless of whether it’s for trafficking or conspiracy, can expose the defendant to the same penalties. If you were the defendant, you could be charged with both conspiracy andtrafficking, even without evidence specific to you.
