November 22, 2016 | admin Philadelphia Decriminalization of Marijuana Bill
What does the decriminalization of Marijuana mean to you, really? Well, the Bill that Mayor Nutter is going to sign pretty much turns the possession offenses into a fine. So, really this does not make marijuana legal. But, rather it makes the penalty for possession of marijuana less offensive to a person’s criminal record (resulting in no criminal record if a person is caught smoking or possessing weed).
In other words, if you are caught possessing 30 grams or less of marijuana you will be cited and fined $25.00. If you are caught smoking marijuana you will be cited and fined $100.00, or made to perform nine hours of community service.
Also, if you get out of the Philadelphia County and wonder into Delaware, Montgomery, or Bucks, and smoke in those particular areas you will be arrested and criminally charged. This only applies to Philadelphia!
